Our inspiration

Among the many artists and inventions that fascinate or shape us, we have selected 6 who embody in their own way the style that we want to give to Laboludic. An ambition and a wish: to sprinkle a little of their genius on each of our creations.

Wes Anderson

Each of his films is awaited by a growing number of fans. This is normal, as this director transports us further each time into his worlds. His style is unique, his touch immediately recognizable: the symmetry, the baroque aesthetic, the retro, the tangy colors like in Grand Budapest Hotel. With him, the image is shaped to perfection, but always in the service of the narrative, and the spectacle is exhilarating!

EP Jacobs

Opening a Blake and Mortimer album for the first time provides a unique and unforgettable feeling. Edgar P. Jacobs fascinates, he hypnotizes, his illustrations are incredibly powerful and diabolically precise. His worlds are mysterious and offbeat, on the border between reality and fiction. In the album “SOS Météores” for example, he distills a malaise that runs throughout the album and whose main ingredient is the rain. The reader perceives that everything is going wrong, without knowing why. The more the story progresses, the more nervously he turns the pages. The machinations, the mysteries, the apocalyptic weapons are omnipresent throughout this work. This great master of the 9th art teaches us rigor, persuasion through images, perfection in framing and a slight gap with reality.

Hayao Miyazaki

Unsurpassable in the marvelous? This master of animation has pushed the boundaries of our imagination very far. His permanent homage to nature, his delicate palette, his stories as beautiful as they are disproportionate, his enchanting creatures, nothing leaves you indifferent about this immense artist. How can you do better than “Castle in the Sky”?

Lego

We should qualify this brand as a public utility, as it has nourished the creativity and imagination of millions of children. Pierre Bellet himself spent his entire childhood and a large part of his adolescence exploring ever further the potential of this extraordinary game. Do you know this little film which tells the story of the beginnings of the company? The story started off rather badly...

Jules Verne

Encyclopedic knowledge, visionary genius. His work is crossed by the permanent breath of the epic. He uses colossal documentation for each of his novels. He is not only an author, he is an engineer and inventor. He uses his taste for geography, history, climate, nature, species… His curiosity is overflowing and contagious.

Chris Ware

Franklin Christenson Ware is a key author of contemporary American comics. He has a genius for formalism and layout. The adventures of Jimmy Corrigan transport us into a precise and codified universe, but in which life and emotions are nevertheless present. Building Stories is an editorial object of incredible creativity, between construction game and story. We can only admire his meticulousness in the service of storytelling.
